About

I am a South African born artist and art teacher living in the UK. I came to my own artistic voice in 2020 and have been painting ever since, exploring texture, layer, colour and the landscapes of memory. My work is rooted in the earth and coastlines of Cape Town, expressed through abstract forms that feel ancient, emotional and alive. I paint because in doing so I become my best version of myself, and I make work that I hope does the same for the people who live with it.

Based in my studio in Dorset, I have exhibited widely across the South of England, showing original paintings and limited-edition prints in galleries and community arts events.

Artist Statement

I paint the landscape of memory. Rooted in a childhood of South African mountains, Cape Town seas and earth, my work is a continuous return, to colour, to texture, and to the layers of a life felt deeply.

My two series, The Dreaming Ground and The Earth Series, are different in feeling but share the same heartbeat. Both are built slowly, layer by layer, each one revealing something the last one hid. Both reward the patient eye, there is always something new to find.

The Dreaming Ground is where it all began. Gestural, emotional and deeply layered, these large abstract paintings are built from mark making, texture and tone with the elements of art woven together intuitively until something raw and true emerges. The black cuts through the warmth like a truth that can't be ignored. The white explodes with light. The blues and earthy browns carry the memory of a landscape loved and carried within me. These are paintings for people who feel things deeply. Who want something on their wall that looks back at them.

The Earth Series begins with earth and water, ink pooling into texture paste, colour developing into landscape, gold dust catching light in unexpected places. Resin settles into the recesses like water finding its level. The work becomes its own entity, zoomed in, abstract, belonging to no single place and yet feeling like everywhere at once. I want you to be drawn in. Mesmerised. Tantalised by the glow of gold and the shimmer of resin.

The Spaces Between is a new body of work just beginning. Born from the meeting place of The Dreaming Ground and The Earth Series, these paintings explore what lives in the space between earth and sky, between one layer and the next, between what is hidden and what is finally revealed. Lighter, more open and luminous than my previous work, earthy pinks, warm oranges and creamy whites breathing together. This series is about emergence. About what becomes visible when you stop looking for it.

I make work that rewards stillness. That asks you to look again. That keeps something hidden until you're ready to find it.
